January 2023 Newsletter

We have ended the year after Term 2 Written Evaluations, Trimester 3 Exams for Classes 9 and 10, School Awards Day and Christmas Celebrations. At the same time, we spelled out our Admission Policy and completed our admission process through December and January - House Visits and Interviews. We spent 3 days together with staff playing games, discussing, presenting, debating, reflecting and clarifying our problem statement, vision, mission, goals and objectives in a 3-day Workshop facilitated by a development professional from Kalimpong, Ms. Pasang Lhamu Bhutia. The central objective of this exercise is to ensure sustainability of the organisation in terms of Programs, Finance and Leadership in order to maximise our impact. This process is ongoing and the final outcome will be a Strategic Document including Policies, Procedures and SOPs as well as an Annual Implementation and Monitoring Plan and Budget.

While the school is closed for winter break, our staff is spending time increasing their capacities in line with the school’s mission. The Music and the Arts Team spent 10 days training in Mumbai with the Symphony Orchestra of India (SOI), J’s Academy, Speech Matters, AVID Leaarning and the Royal Opera House, Drama Department at Wilson College as well as attending concerts and exhibitions and meeting our key supporters, Furtados Music. It has been a fulfilling experience, thanks to the funding support through the SOI and several individuals who contributed to our crowdfunding campaign online.

Our campus road carpeting has been completed through the kind assistance of the local authorities. While the School Auditorium work is in full swing, we have commenced the construction of our Academic Block Student Washrooms through kind support to our WASH project. Our parents have enthusiastically responded to our call to contribute their labour. 




We are in the process of designing Jungle Gyms and preparing our grounds  for our children’s sport needs. Our ABRSM International Sponsorship Fund Award 2022 has come to an end and we featured on their 10-Year Impact Report. We are gearing up with renewed confidence  for all the promising projects in the pipeline for 2023.

The GASChorus, Musician and Dancers from Xavier Sangeetanjali and Young Musicians from Delhi and Mumbai toured with the GASOrchestra for a week presenting one-hour-long concerts at Siliguri, Kurseong, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok as part of the Strings of Hope Concert Tour. April - May 2024 Newsletter

  May was a month of notable achievements. One, the GASChorus, Musician and Dancers from Xavier Sangeetanjali and Young Musicians from Delhi and Mumbai toured with the GASOrchestra for a week presenting one-hour-long concerts at Siliguri, Kurseong, Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok as part of the Strings of Hope Concert Tour. March 2024 Newsletter

We began March with a Eucharistic Celebration and the Blessing of the School by Fr. Francis Xavier Subba SJ.  We started with the first round of Class-House Assemblies this month interpreting the school year theme - Culture of Human Excellence.  A french artist, Anne Guilhbaud gave a workshop to our promising artists from Class 6 through our partners, the Himalayan Institute of Goodwill and Living Ethics.  We also began our Musical Mornings with a cello duet presented by our senior cello students under the guidance of our Cello Facilitator, Devraj Rai.  Our Music Volunteer, Philipp Engel presented German childrens’ songs with our Kindergarteners.  Our Music Team organised ‘Rendition 2024’, the school’s talent festival, this time focusing on unique performances.  Our Senior Orchestra performed at the International Women’s Day event organised at the Kalimpong Town Hall by the Anandadhara unit of the District Administration and Hayden Hall Institute.  A...
